Not for kids . . . Sesame Street is not safe anymore!

That is the view of a number of Christian leaders and organizations, including Family Research Council, One Million Mums, and Dr James Dobson Family Institute.

The 50-year-old children’s show “with adorable characters, entertaining stories and unique music… a plethora of friendly puppets, an eight-foot-tall yellow bird with no teeth and a character named Mr Snuffleupagus” has become progressive. Proof? Well, Sesame Street recently announced that in an upcoming episode it will be featuring Billy Porter.

We know that something has gone awry with the management philosophy of the show when this gay advocate can have a spot on the show!  What is more, he wears the same black velvet tuxedo with which he made waves at the 2019 Oscars.

Now, how did Sesame Street go from being a show that “teaches concepts such as numbers and letters, and values including kindness, sharing, cooperation and respect” to one that features a star of a LGBTQ television show based in New York City?

This is why conservatives believe that the long-running children’s show we have all come to love is not safe anymore for our children.

This issue is so seriously an affront to LifeSite News that it has established a petition requesting HBO and its parent company AT&T to cancel the episode. More than 60,000 have signed the petition so far.

Mr Gottry, president for public policy at the Dr James Dobson Family Institute (JDFI), opines that it is obvious the LGBTQ community has carefully targeted the very young with its agenda. Children are very impressionable. And what they view on television definitely influences and impacts their thinking about life.

No wonder then, that the LGBTQ community has targeted informative and educational agencies with its view about human sexuality – and now, it has attacked Sesame Street!

And it should be no wonder to anyone, either, that ‘drag queen story hour’ at local libraries has now become a phenomenon in America. “Or that schools are implementing sex indoctrination programs under the guise of ‘education.’” It is all in an effort to coerce children to accept deviant sex practices, and view LGBTQ philosophy as natural!

This is a very dangerous path for America to be travelling. Therefore, Gottry is issuing a warning to parents and guardians about the new-look Sesame Street.

Over the decades this show has had a very profound, positive effect on millions of children – some now adults – around the world. To be sure, there is still valuable information shared on Sesame Street, but parents have to play a more vital role in monitoring their children’s viewing.
