Share FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 345 Reigning Caribbean champions Kamal Cumberbatch and Meagan Best along with American pro Matt Lazour are gearing up for the Sagicor Junior Nationals and the Barbados Spring Break Junior Squash Open tournaments to be held at the Squash Club in Hastings, Christ Church. The tournaments run from March 12 to 17, at the Barbados Squash Club located in Hastings, Christ Church. Barbados TODAY caught up with the trio yesterday afternoon at a private court in Christ Church where they told us about their readiness for the upcoming competitions. Best explained that she was very prepared as she had been working extremely hard at at her school Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Connecticut. โI am feeling pretty confident with my game right now. Itโs just a matter of going on court and executing it. Iโm feeling pretty confident on the court in doing what my coach tells me to do and the shots that Iโm playing,โ she said. The 17-year-old added that she felt agile and fit and was feeling ready even though she stuck with the routine she had over the last couple of months. Meanwhile, Cumberbatch said his aim is to show general improvement in all aspects of his game. โI try not to put too many expectations on myself. I just want to get better and thatโs what Iโm looking to do in this tournament,โ he noted. He encouraged younger players to just enjoy the game of squash. His American teammate Matt Lazour said that he was very prepared for the match after putting in time on court.
