Barbados has recorded four new cases of COVID-19, pushing the total number of cases to 56.

The latest cases were diagnosed over the last 24 hours.

Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Anton Best said that 28 of the 56 are males, and 28 are females. The patients range in age from seven to 83.

At a news conference on Sunday, Best said the vast majority of these cases were imported into Barbados.

“We’ve identified a significant portion of those cases through contact tracing and three persons are still being investigated in terms of the source of infection,” he said.

Best added that the condition of the majority of the patients can be described as “mild to moderate.”
