Update – Sixteen-year-old missing at sea identified

Police have identified the 16-year-old male who went missing at sea, earlier today, while free diving off the coast of Tent Bay, Bathsheba, St Joseph.

He is Amali Mayers, of Beach Mount, Bathsheba, St Joseph – a student of the Alleyne School.

Personnel at District ‘F’ Police Station received a report via telephone around 12 :45 p.m., Friday, May 1, that a young man had gone missing while free diving with three other persons off the mentioned coast.

Police spokesman Acting Inspector Rodney Inniss said, the Police Marine Unit and the Barbados Coast Guard are conducting searches at sea in the general area with “no signs or sightings reported at this stage.”
