In a telephone interview with Barbados TODAY, Fanus said he was not quite closing the door on his badminton career and believes that in the future he might consider making a return. “I don’t play as much now, I just play locally and I’m not on the international scene anymore. Work commitment has me unable to travel,” Fanus said. This year Fanus featured in the Barbados Badminton Association Senior Championship where he won the men’s doubles title with partner Bradley Pilgrim. He also came second in the mixed doubles with teammate Monyata Riviera who is the new senior women’s champion in singles action. Surprisingly, Fanus, a member of Shuttlers Badminton Club, won the senior men’s singles on two consecutive occasions in the past but did not take a shot at the title this year. Over the years the 24-year-old represented Barbados well. He won the doubles in 2016 at the Suriname International Tournament with partner Dakeil Thorpe.
