Treasure finds gold on action-packed night

Familiar faces continued to deliver top performances in the pool as day three of the 2020 Barbados Aquatic Sports Association Short Course Nationals continued yesterday at the National Aquatic Centre in Wildey.

Danielle Treasure, one of the top female swimmers of Pirates Club, was in dominant form as she won the 15-17 girls 100m freestyle, clocking 59.45 seconds, while clubmate Keilani Talma followed her home in 1:00.74 for the second overall fastest time.

Treasure once again proved unbeatable in the 50m backstroke registering a time of 30.78 seconds for gold.

Nkosi Dunwoody of Alpha Club  made his mark in the 15-17 boys 50m backstroke, clocking 28.12 seconds to win handsomely ahead of Christopher Pollard (29.61) and Eric Lashley (30.78) of Pirates Club.

Diego Dulieu of Pirates added another gold medal to his name when he won the 100m freestyle in 54.60 seconds in the boys 15-17 division.

In the more senior division, Matthew Mayers 33.54 seconds captured gold for High Tide Stingray (HTSR) in the 50m backstroke.

One of Alpha’s Club top male performers, Omari Sealy, continued to stamp his authority in the pool. The 14-year-old touched the wall in 55.50 seconds in the 100m freestyle for boys 13-14 age group and also shone in the 50m backstroke when he delivered the top podium finish in 31.50 for his club.

Adara Stoddard continues to live up to expectations. A member of HTSR, Stoddard was unmatched in the 13-14 girls 50m backstroke when she produced a leading time of 31.43 seconds.

In the 100m freestyle, the CARIFTA medallist Stoddard, earned another gold when she posteda  59.38 showing in that event.

Heidi Baker of Pirates Club touched the wall first in the girls 11-12 50m backstroke in a time of 33.95 while Heidi Stoute, also of Pirates Club, executed brilliantly for first place finish (1:19.73) in the 100m backstroke for girls 9-10.

The boys 11-12 50m backstroke was won by Kareem Johnson of Black Sails Swim Club (BSAIL) in 33.37 seconds while in the boys 9-10 category, Tariq Greenidge of HTSR was victorious in 1:17.60.
