First Vice-President of the Democratic Labour Party Ryan Walters has called on the Government to provide the country with clear information on the COVID-19 situation in the country.
The DLP spokesman on health charged that the current information being provided leaves the public with many unanswered questions.
Walters said: “Barbados has one of the smallest COVID-19 dashboards in the Caribbean and a more detailed report is needed so that the public has clear and unambiguous daily information relating to testing and status of cases of coronavirus in the country…The public should not be subjected to doing their own calculations to find out what has transpired over the last 24 hours.”
He added that citizens should not have to guess how many locals versus tourists have been tested and their status and Barbadians should know the number of quarantine facilities and the associated occupancy at each facility.
Walter advised the information should be provided for activity over a 24-hour period along with the total picture.
He suggested the following breakdown :
* New Positive Cases
* Source of cases (imported or local)
* Sex classification (male vs female)
* Number of tests conducted by source (tourist & locals)
* Deaths, Recoveries & Active cases
* Quarantine management:
1. Name of each facility
2. Occupancy at each facility
He argued that that citizens have been in panic mode for the last couple of weeks and “ -only the truth can set us free.
“The people of Barbados deserve to be given a comprehensive daily report on the state of affairs of this country relating to the COVID19 pandemic,” Walters said
