This winter season, the Le Dumont-d’Urville will be sailing from the Bridgetown Port with two, nine-day Caribbean itineraries lined up. Not only this, but the luxury expedition line will also be making Barbados a port-of-call for five other nine-day Caribbean itineraries. “Historically, Barbados has always had a strong connection with the cruise industry and partners like PONANT,” Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Senator Lisa Cummins said in response to the latest cruise developments. “The decision by PONANT to make our island home port for the Le Dumont-d’Urville during the upcoming winter season is clear evidence that both Barbados and the cruise industry are intent on strengthening that pre-existing connection,” she added. From February 8, 2022, the Pearls of the Caribbean itinerary will travel from the Bridgetown Port, before sailing to Bequia Island, St Vincent and the Grenadines; Les Saintes, Guadeloupe; Fort de France, Martinique; Mayreau Islands, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines; Saint George, Grenada; Tobago Cays, St Vincent and Grenada; Pigeon Island, St Lucia; Soufrière, before returning to Barbados before the second trip on February 16, 2022.
