Red Advertising & Marketing Limited powered through adversity to again register significant wins at the 2021 judging of the American Advertising Federation ADDY Awards winning a grand total of 29 ADDY awards.

Managing director of Red, Jevan Jutagir, commented on the significance of the awards and the contribution of his team.

โ€œThis was the toughest of yearsโ€ฆtough for our clients, tough for their businessesโ€ฆtough for our staffโ€ฆtough on everyoneโ€™s families. COVID-19 has hit the world and our region hard. That is why it is so gratifying to win just one ADDY, let alone 29 under these conditions. Within this, I am so proud of my team and how they rose to the challenge.

โ€œWe activated our disaster plan and had everyone successfully working from home from mid-March 2020. No-one lost their job or had their salary cut and we were always there for our clients, most of whom were confronting their own challenges. My team never missed a beat or failed to deliver on a client brief. When the chips were down Red delivered.โ€

Speaking specifically on the awards, Jutagir added: โ€œFollowing last year, where we were the Caribbeanโ€™s top agency, was always going to be a challenge but we pulled it off again in 2020 with a second place in the Caribbean despite the many challenges.

โ€œIn Barbados, Red again dominated the awards for the 18th straight year and registered more award wins than the rest of Barbados combined. That is strong testament to the consistency and depth of our creative product.โ€

Red won a total of seven gold and 22 silver ADDY Awards on brands including Banks Beer, Sagicor, Deputy Lager, Gajah, The COVID-19 Unit, Norman Centre and Red Advertising itself. Strong performances were registered for Banksโ€™ Independence โ€œCheers to Our Village Shopsโ€ and Crop Over โ€œNeva Ovaโ€ campaigns as well as Sagicorโ€™s Frontline Heroes campaign, further demonstrating the impact COVID-19 had on the yearโ€™s marketing.

โ€œWithin this, the Red team were also able to lighten it up with their own award-winning Christmas and Halloween campaigns.

Jutagir also injected a message of optimism and hope for the future of Barbados and the wider region.

โ€œBarbados and the Caribbean are tough little countries bound together by a knack of conquering adversity in many forms. We have been very hard hit, especially in the tourism dependent islands.

But there is light at the end of the tunnel with vaccination starting in several of our islands and in our major economic partners. We will bounce back stronger than ever and be able to put all we have learned to great use.

Red is gearing up to take advantage of the boom conditions that must follow the lull created by the pandemic. We want to lead for our clients with more award-winning work,โ€ he said.

The ADDY awards event is the creative award show of the American Advertising Federation (AAF) of which the Caribbean Advertising Federation (CAF) is a member.

The awards are three tiered with local shows and awards which feed into regional shows (the CAF is part of the 4th District region which includes Florida, The Caribbean and Puerto Rico) which in turn feed into a national show.

Red Advertising & Marketing, with offices in Barbados and Trinidad but operating across the Caribbean, is one of the Caribbeanโ€™s most creatively awarded agencies. Its contact is Jevan Jutagir 1-246-228-4000 or Mark Ammon in Trinidad 1-868-628-4000.ย (PR)
