The presentation was part of IWF’s initiative to recognize the ongoing efforts of female frontline workers across Barbados, and specifically those serving the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory as part of International Women’s Day Celebrations, 2021. The IWF is a global organization committed to advancing women’s leadership and championing equality worldwide. One of the primary pillars of the Barbados chapter is to promote and support the advancement of Women in STEM. The IWF Barbados team spearheading the initiative to recognise female frontline workers at the Best-dos Santos Laboratory comprised Donna Every, President, IWF Barbados and IWF Barbados Chapter members Misha Lobban-Clarke; Erica Luke and Gina Cummins. “The IWF is very pleased to give back to the workers at the Lab who have given so much to the nation of Barbados through their dedication and committed service during this pandemic,” Every stated. “The decision to show tangible appreciation to you, the female workers at Best-dos Lab, was due to the fact that you have been working on the frontline and rising above the challenges posed by the pandemic while still giving of your best. Dr. Songee Beckles, Director at the Best-dos Santos Lab expressed appreciation to the IWF Barbados chapter on behalf of the female workers at the laboratory.
