Chairman of the Barbados National Oil Company Limited (BNOCL) Group, Alex McDonald will soon be stepping down from that post.

This was revealed today by Minister of Energy, Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Kerrie Symmonds, who gave the assurance that McDonald’s successor would soon be named.

McDonald is leaving shortly to take up his new post as High Commissioner to Kenya and permanent representative to the United Nations Office at Nairobi.

Speaking at the opening of the Maintenance Annex at the Barbados National Terminal Company Limited’s (BNTCL), Fairy Valley, Christ Church headquarters this afternoon, Symmonds said McDonald had already indicated his intention to resign.

“…It is not an evening for the members of the press to rush to me all at once or individually with the view to ascertaining whether I have settled on Mr McDonald’s successor, That is not a matter about which I am prepared to comment this evening, that time will come, but having thanked him for his duty and having acknowledged that he has signalled his intention to resign very shortly, obviously certain things are in train,” the minister said.
