No parties allowed- AG

Barbadians and other residents here have been reminded that it’s illegal to host parties at this time and they should consult the COVID directive for details.

This was emphatically stated by Attorney General Dale Marshall and reinforced by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley during this evening’s press conference at Ilaro Court.

Responding to a query posed by the media regarding parties and brunches being advertised despite the curfew in place, the Attorney General, pointed all residents to the current Directive, set to expire on Tuesday, July 27.

He said: “The Directive clearly says that parties are not allowed and therefore for the Minister or for anybody to give permission for a party of any kind [that] would run obviously and immediately afoul of the clear terms of the Directive.

“So if anybody is having a party, whether it’s morning, noon, or night, that party is an illegal event and is in breach of the protocols. People who are attending; people who are hosting; people who are in any way involved in such an event could find themselves before the law courts and liable to a $50,000 fine or up to a year in prison.”

Substantiating these statements, Prime Minister Mottley stressed the limit for people outside a shop and an outdoor-type event was 40.
She further added: “But that’s not a party; anything that will then have music and people dancing etc. [is] out of order, out of line, out of bounds.”
