The accident occurred around 10:45 a.m. on Friday, August 6. Police spokesman Acting Inspector Rodney Inniss told reporters at the scene that the deceased is a mature male and was the driver of one of the two vehicles involved. Acting Inspector Inniss said a white Nissan Frontier pickup owned by the Ministry of Health was travelling in the direction of Oistins and a Mitsubishi Fuso minibus was travelling in the opposite direction when the two collided head on. โThe driver of the pickup was pronounced dead on the spot,โ he revealed, adding that the โdriver of the minibus complained of injuries to his feet and chest pains.โ He was taken away to Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) for medical attention. Ten passengers in the minibus complained of various injuries โ two were taken to the QEH and one was transported to the Randall Phillips Polyclinic at Oistins. The remaining seven were discharged as they opted to seek private medical attention.
