Prison escape foiled

Prison authorities on Friday foiled an attempted escape from Her Majesty’s Prison at Dodds in St Philip when armed officers stopped an unnamed inmate in his tracks.

The inmate was shot but prison boss Lieutenant Colonel John Nurse said he was still alive.

“A fellow attempted to escape and he was shot after refusing [to obey] the orders of the officers. We are not going to discuss this anymore at this stage. We are dealing with the matter and I don’t want to talk about it,” Nurse told Barbados TODAY.
