A shopkeeper at odds with some of her neighbours has denied she broke the law by playing loud music.

When she appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, Hazel Donna Greenidge, 47, of Block 11B Bottom Close, Wildey, St Michael, pleaded not guilty to causing a nuisance to the public by allowing loud music to be emitted from her shop on June 2, 2020.

Also facing a similar charge is McKerie Kemo Humphrey, an apprentice mason of September Square, 4th Avenue Harts Gap, Christ Church.

He pleaded not guilty to causing a nuisance to the public on June 2, 2020, by allowing loud music to be played at Greenidge’s shop.

The four complainants were present in court and told Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes they were still interested in pursuing the matter.

And even though the Chief Magistrate provided some suggestions as to how the matter could be resolved, both parties signalled their intent to have the case go to trial.

Both Greenidge and Humphrey had been previously granted $3 000 bail.

Greenidge, who is represented by Angela Mitchell-Gittens, and Humphrey will return to court on March 2, 2022.
