The potential impact of the temporary closure of bridge on the KNR Highway in Speightstown, St. Peter was examined today during a site tour.

Minister of Labour and Social Partnership Relations, Colin Jordan, joined officials from the Barbados Tourism Investment Inc. (BTI) and key stakeholders to tour the Salt Pond Flood Mitigation Project.

The project, currently in its second phase, will result in temporary traffic changes from Monday, September 20, for a period of four months.

Project Manager of One Builders Construction, Ryan Brooker, gave an extensive tour of the alternative routes to Minister Jordan, who is also the Member of Parliament for St. Peter, and officials from the Barbados Defense Force, Royal Barbados Police Force, Barbados Fire Service and the Barbados Transport Authority.

Emergency vehicles will have access routes through Around-the-Town heading north and south adjacent to the KNR Highway during the closure.

Executive Chairman of Haigh Communications Inc., Joy-Ann Haigh, said a comprehensive traffic plan will be disseminated to facilitate adequate preparation. (PR)
