On Wednesday Kemar Ramone Brathwaite, a truck driver, from Andrews Tenantry, St Joseph appeared before Magistrate Manila Renee, charged with committing the offence between April 1 and September 5. He was accompanied by his attorney-at-law Simon Clarke. It is alleged that he stole a variety of canned food including 67 cans of mixed vegetables; 50 cans of kidney beans; 34 cans of chickpeas; 70 cans of Chicken Vienna Sausages; 40 cans of corn; 29 cans of tuna; 20 cans of corn beef; and 81 cans of luncheon meat along with 28 bottles of ketchup and five bottles of barbecue sauce all valued at $1 005.91. Prosecuting Sergeant Paul Prescod had no objections to bail after Brathwaite pleaded not guilty to the offence before the District ‘A’ No. 2 Magistrates’ Court. The accused secured the $750 bail with one surety and was ordered to reappear in court on February 1, 2022. On Monday, 27-year-old truck driver Andre Tremayne Williams, of 6th Avenue Friendship Terrace South, St Michael was given the same adjourned date by Magistrate Renee after pleading not guilty to the charge that he stole five cases of luncheon meat belonging to Atlantic and worth $750 on August 31.
