Local News Sagicor in the fight against breast cancer by Barbados Today Traffic 06/10/2021 written by Barbados Today Traffic 06/10/2021 2 min read A+A- Reset Share FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 162 In the ongoing fight against breast cancer, it is widely acknowledged and accepted that early detection goes a long way towards saving lives, which is why Sagicor continues to encourage individuals, especially those most at risk of developing the condition, to do whatever they can to get ahead of the deadly disease. This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, also known as ‘Pinktober,’ the leading insurer is promoting the use of breast self-examinations with its #CheckYoursOut campaign, which is aimed at bringing awareness towards the importance of screening for early detection. Ingrid Card, Vice President, Group Marketing, Communications and Brand Experience said: Self-examination is a convenient, no-cost option in the arsenal of preventative tools against breast cancer and can be a great addition to an overall breast cancer screening strategy. “If done on a regular basis and combined with regular physical exams by a medical professional, this approach can increase the probability of early detection, which has been proven to increase the rate of survival.” She added: “This approach is even more relevant today given the current environment we find ourselves in, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “With restrictions on movement and human contact, it has become even more important for individuals to monitor their health and any conditions from at home.
