Noel Alexander Austin

Accused Noel Alexander Austin will remain on remand at Her Majesty’s Prison at Dodds despite a request to be transferred to the Black Rock based mental health facility.

“Sir I am an outpatient of the Psychiatric Hospital for 30 years, I am asking you to remand me to the mental,” the 46-year-old of no fixed place of abode told Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes today.

However the magistrate ruled against the submission and remanded Austin to reappear before the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on December 1.

The accused has been on remand at the prison since September after appearing before the Chief Magistrate charged with causing serious bodily harm to Chevon Thomas on September 1, with intent to maim, disfigure or disable him or to do serious bodily harm to him.

He is not required to plead to the indictable charge before the Magistrates’ Court.
