Martin Kemar Hurley from Gays, St Peter has pleaded guilty to a nine-count indictment before the High Court which included use of an illegal weapon and endangering life charges.
Appearing before Justice Randall Worrell in the No. 2 Supreme Court Hurley admitted that on July 28, 2016 in the parish of St Peter he together with other persons unknown unlawfully and maliciously engaged in conduct namely shot at Jamar Blackman, Pedro Benn and Dario Walkes which placed them in danger of death or serious bodily harm
He also admitted that he on that same date and in the same parish together with other persons unknown, unlawfully and maliciously engaged in conduct that placed Gwendolyn Benn-Parris in danger of death or serious bodily harm as well as used a firearm without a valid licence to do so.
Hurley also pleaded guilty to the charge that he, together with other persons and without lawful excuse, damaged houses belonging to Ronnie Fergusson, Gwendolyn Benn-Parris, Julian Arthur and Patrina Fergusson intending to damage such property or was reckless as to whether such property would be damaged.
After accepting the guilty pleas on behalf of the prosecution, Senior Crown Counsel Olivia Davis agreed to the November date given by Justice Randall Worrell for submissions on sentencing in Hurley’s matters.
At that time defense attorney-at-law Latisha Springer will mitigate on his behalf and put forward submissions on sentencing.
The time that the convicted man has spent on remand at Dodds in connection with the
offences is also to be read to the court on that date.
