RUBIS remains on board with the Diabetes and Hypertension Association of Barbados (DHAB) by supporting World Diabetes Day 2021 activities.
Since 2012, Team RUBIS has supported the work of the Diabetes and Hypertension Association of Barbados through its community mobile outreach program.

Gabrielle Barrow, Marketing Coordinator, RUBIS, explained: “With November being Diabetes Awareness Month, RUBIS reconfirms its commitment to the important work of the Diabetes and Hypertension Association of Barbados.”
Barrow was speaking as the energy company recently presented $5 000 to the association.

“One of the things that the ongoing pandemic has highlighted is that persons with diabetes and other non-communicable diseases are at higher risks of contracting COVID-19 and experiencing serious complications from the illness. This year, RUBIS is especially pleased to provide support and join the association to help sensitise the public about diabetes and we can attest to the positive public response that has been received as we have partnered with them in the past for our annual health fairs at the Sunset Crest service station,” Barrow added.

On receiving the donation, Kim Clarke, Public Relations Officer, expressed her gratitude and said: “The Diabetes and Hypertension Association of Barbados is grateful to have the support of Team RUBIS.

Through this donation, we will be able to continue working towards our mission to improve the quality of life for children living with Type 1 Diabetes. This donation truly makes a difference as we work together to address these needs. We are extremely appreciative and thank you for your continued support.”

In addition to the financial support, RUBIS is also partnering with the DHAB through its “Blue Dollar Drive initiative” where donation boxes have been placed at all RUBIS stations around the island and every two dollars donated goes towards assisting children who are affected by diabetes. (PR)
