Thorne will be contesting his second general election on January 19 with high hopes of securing another victory. His proposer was Deborah Watkins while his seconder was Zamali Lambert. Retired journalist Tim Slinger served as his election agent. In an interview with Barbados TODAY shortly after, Thorne admitted it was a ‘nervy’ process. “I am always nervous for two reasons; I don’t like filling out forms, you always feel that a document is missing and secondly when you are doing something that your heart is in it then you will always be nervous and my heart is in it, so I felt nervous but I felt very, very pleased and reassured at the support that I received. I am guided by my own sense of humility because genuine service is by its nature an exercise in humility and that is my approach,” he said.
