Two women separately accused of importing marijuana will appear before the District ‘B’ Magistrates’ Court at St Joseph on Tuesday.
Their cases were transferred to that court following an appearance before acting District ‘A’ Magistrate Jared Richards.
Apart from the importation charge, Kyla Aliya Shermaine Hoyte, a 20-year-old nail technician of Sergeants Village, Christ Church, is also accused of possession, possession with intent for her or some other person to supply, and trafficking of the illegal drug on January 19.
She has pleaded not guilty to the offences.
With no objection from Sergeant Victoria Taitt, Hoyte was granted $30 000 bail, made to surrender her travel documents, and ordered to report to the Hastings/Worthing Police Station every Wednesday before 10 a.m., with valid identification.
The other accused, Shanice Nikita Giles, a 28-year-old café attendant from Paradise Road, Market Hill, St George, is facing the same four cannabis charges, but her offences are alleged to have been committed on January 18.
Sergeant Taitt did not object to her bail of $60 000. As part of her conditions, Giles must report to the Glebe Police Station every Wednesday before 10 a.m. She was also made to surrender her travel documents.
