Sandals Resorts International continues to play a leading role in driving consumer confidence in travel by hosting 11 radio stations from across Canada last week to soak up the warmth of Barbados while doing live broadcasts from Sandals Barbados.

The Sandals Canadian Winter Sizzle was an overwhelming success as the Bell Media/iHeart Radio Canada stations under their MOVE brand – including major markets of Vancouver, Ottawa and Halifax transformed the Calypso Lounge of the hotel in a live broadcast area for one week.

The objective of the live radio remotes is to help strengthen consumer confidence about travelling, all the while showcasing Sandals Resorts and the island of Barbados.

The live broadcasts are part of a larger national on-air/online promotion “Password to Paradise”.

The 7-week promo (March – May 2022) also includes TV spots across the CTV Network and outdoor billboard advertising, in addition to the five days (Mon-Fri) of full Morning Show broadcasts.

Maureen Barnes-Smith, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Canada, Unique Vacations Canada (an affiliate of Sandals Resorts and Beaches Resorts Int.) said that the timing of this particular radio remote was perfect for all involved.

“The timing of these live broadcasts is most ideal….just about one month after the changes to Canada’s re-entry requirements.

“The radio remotes will definitely help to strengthen Canadian consumer confidence about travelling once again, all while showcasing Sandals Resorts and the beautiful island of Barbados,” she commented.

C.J. Smith, Director of Sales, Unique Vacations Canada echoed similar thoughts, “It’s been an unbelievable week.

In addition to the live remotes, the radio DJs have been very active on social media. In fact, Sandals Royal Barbados was trending in both Canada and here in Barbados this week.”

The event could not have transpired without the help of local partner the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) whose Canada office Director, Peter Mayers, thanked everyone involved and invited Jens Thraenhart, CEO of the BTMI and Minister of Tourism Senator Lisa Cummins to take part in some of the live broadcasts.
