The island’s largest public sector trade union is this evening denying reports that any of its members at the Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) are going on strike on Monday.
President of the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) Kimberley Agard said on Sunday the reports are a mere rumour.
“[We] heard the rumour and the NUPW SSA Committee of Management was contacted. No industrial action is planned amongst NUPW members,” Agard told Barbados TODAY.
“The NUPW would have made representation for its members to the authorities of the SSA regarding the concerns of the workers and believes in following procedure and allowing the process to happen,” the union leader declared. She did not elaborate.
