Producer of Grand Kadooment Adisa Aja Andwele described today’s colourful parade as a success when he spoke to Barbados TODAY this afternoon.

Under mostly sunny conditions, revellers from 11 bands danced their way on the new route from Warrens, along the ABC Highway to the Emancipation Statue and back and then onto Waterford to the National Stadium.

Andwele was satisfied with the new route.

“We were on time at 9: a.m.… and so we’ve been going since then. It’s a new route and we just want to feel how it works as it is not congested. It’s not the same small roads as Bank Hall and so on,” he explained.

The first band to leave from the Everton Weekes Roundabout was Aura followed by Colorz.

Many revellers came decked out in their beads and feathers for Mega Monday including local celebrities like Faith Callender, Uncle Phil, Mara Rose and influencer Akhnaten Burrows.

Mara Rose told Barbados TODAY that she was very happy to be back out after missing her favourite festival for the last two years.

“I am accustomed to the road and I am so happy to be outside!” she said laughing.

Last year Rose posted a video of her crying on Instagram because she missed Crop Over.

Many Barbadians and visitors lined the route to take in the action. (MR)
