The event will be held on Tuesday, August 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the department’s Lazaretto, Black Rock, St. Michael headquarters. During the day, there will be guided tours of one of the department’s four repositories starting at 10:00 a.m. and continuing every two hours thereafter. Patrons will have the opportunity to see the types of research services offered, view a display of various records and learn about records management, and the cleaning process of historic records. They will also be given a historical overview of the building and a pep talk on how to maintain coral limestone structures. Additionally, there will be tours of the Conservation Section of the Archives where staff will demonstrate paper repair techniques, showcase the tools used to effect this and discuss the factors leading to paper records deterioration.
