Bennett, who pastored in all three circuits of the Methodist fraternity – Bethel, Ebenezer, James Street, and Speightstown – for more than four decades, also served his country as a nurse, counsellor, and marriage officer. In tribute, Bishop of the South Caribbean District Reverend Derick Richards said Bennett’s passing will leave a void in the countless lives that he touched. “Reverend Bennett will be remembered for his wise counsel and advice, his pastoral care and tireless visits to the hospital to the sick, as a counsellor to persons from all walks of life, as a devoted family man, and as a Christian gentleman and committed pastor. “The Methodist community is deeply saddened by the passing of a beloved brother, friend, and colleague. His valuable words and prescient thoughts will be forever etched in our hearts. His presence always added life and positivity to any environment in which he found himself. His death is a great loss to the community in general and the Methodist Church in particular and to his family,” Bishop Richards said. Reverend Bennett leaves to mourn his wife Marilene, daughters Dr K Eltora Bennett and Cheryl Bennett-Inniss, and his grandchildren.
