The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) has advised the public that warm conditions are expected to continue throughout the remainder of September and the greater part of October.
In an information statement issued Monday, the BMS said September and October are climatologically the warmest months of the year.
“Maximum temperatures across the island have been peaking between 32C and 34C, particularly in the urban areas, which is normal during this period.”
Based on guidance from the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the forecasters advised the public to remain hydrated by drinking plenty of water, keep cool by wearing light-coloured, loose-fitting clothing, and avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day (typically between 10 a.m and 4 p.m).
The BMS added that the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and Security has also urged livestock owners to take precautions to prevent heat stress and farmers to implement measures to reduce heat stress on smaller crops.
The BMS has advised the public to continue to monitor the daily forecast of maximum temperatures. (BMS)
