A district which is usually filled with consumer activity took on an exciting atmosphere as members of staff of Gallagher Insurance Brokers and specially invited guests recently prepared to celebrate the company’s new signage and continual rebranding.
The evening began with an energetic welcome from Karen Holder, Senior Vice President, Operations, Caribbean. She encouraged attendees to get to know the people behind the company who are committed to maintaining high standards of excellence in developing and administering insurance programs for clients across the region.
Following a prayer said by Michelle Rock, Vice President of Property and Casualty, Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, some opening remarks were said by Michael Thornhill, Group Chief Executive Officer, Gallagher Caribbean. Thornhill noted that the company is “locally grown, globally known” with over 200 people employed across the Caribbean,
making it one of the largest insurance brokers in the region.
The company operates in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Cayman, Dominica, Jamaica, Grenada, Trinidad & Tobago, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia and St. Kitts and Nevis. They also hold licence in Anguilla and have correspondents in Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Guyana, Haiti and Suriname.
With a far-reaching and palpable impact on many communities, Thornhill credits the company’s longstanding success to its people who enact The Gallagher Way – 25 tenets written by Robert E. Gallagher, Chairman of Gallagher in 1927. This has led to strong values and a rich culture within the company. Maya Wiltshire, Area Vice President, Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean echoed Thornhill’s sentiments by commending the various departments within the company for their high level of commitment and standards when delivering the best rates, services and return for clients. Wiltshire highlighted Gallagher being recognized as one of the world’s Most Ethical Companies in 2022 by Ethisphere and their capability to provide services beyond the borders of Barbados.
Delivering the featured address of the evening, Senator Lisa Cummins, Minister of Energy and Business Development with responsibilities for International Business and Trade, called for increased connectivity within and among companies. The Minister also expressed her enthusiasm to work within her ministry and continue to engage with the business
community across the island. She concluded her speech by commending Gallagher on their
success and contribution to the business community.
