Green giants repeat as champions

Defending champions Green House Giants repeated as champions of St. Stephen’s Primary inter-house sports held today at the Usain Bolt, Sports Complex as they tallied 448 points to emerge in the top position.

Just four points separated Green House from their nearest rivals Yellow House Lions in second position on 444 while the Blue House Tridents finished third on 421 points and Red House Cobras on 396 were fourth.

It was a competitive day of inter-house sports held on the Ryan Brathwaite track when the individual races had completed, it was Under-13 male champion Najarie Straughn of Red House who was named Victor Ludorum with 40 points. Straughn announced himself as the fastest boy at St. Stephen’s Primary by completing the sprint double and secured the top podium finish in the 400m and 800m races for Red House.

There was a tie however for the Victrix Ludorum honours between Yellow House star athlete Akeila Reece in the Under-nine age group and Rashena Wright of Green House in the Under-13 Girls Division.

Keisha Foster of Blue House dismissed the field in the Under-11 Girls 100m race.

They both tallied 40 points for their respective team houses as Reece was a clear winner in all her events including the 80m, 100m, 150m and discus event. Meanwhile, Wright in the senior age group was fortunate to win two of her five events that comprised Gold in the 400m as well as the 600m open race, she was second in the 100m and third in the 200m and discus throw.

The other age group champions are Razyah McDonald- Thompson of Green House and Tai Wiltshire of Yellow House in the Under-seven Division.

Victor ludorum Najarie Straughn of Red House won the Under-13 Boys 100m.

Blue House were unstoppable thanks to Under-nine Boys Division champion, Makai Cadogan- Harris accounted for a total of 29 points and Under-11 Girls standout Keisha Foster accumulating 30 points.

Meanwhile Xavier Vaughan of Green House on 30 points was the best among the Under-11 Boys age group.
