“Nothing is out of your reach.” This was the message shared by Sagicor when the leading insurance and financial solutions provider visited with the Girls Guides Association of Barbados to lead a motivational session in recognition of International Women’s Day.
Under the theme “You Go Girl: Embracing Gender Equity”, the session focused on successful women operating in industries and roles typically dominated by men.
Sagicor team members, Keisha Humphrey-Mayers, Communications and Group CSR Manager; Cathy-Ann Beckles, Digital and Social Media Marketing Manager; Tricia-Ann Greaves, Systems Administration Manager in the Information Technology division and Krystle Howell, Internal Auditor, each addressed the approximately 20 girls who attended the session, sharing their personal success stories with the intention of encouraging the girls to strive for their goals, whatever they may be.

To kick things off, Humphrey-Mayers performed a “confidence resume” exercise with the girls, asking them to share their thoughts on what they believe their strongest attributes to be, and what they love most about themselves.
“Confidence is key, as without it we tend to shy away from challenges that we would otherwise take on if we were more self-assured,” she said. “Each one of the women who shared their story had to overcome any self-doubt before they could make the necessary steps to position themselves for the success they have now achieved in their respective fields,” she added.
