FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 575 Prime Minister Mia Mottley has made it explicitly clear that there will be no discussions on gender fluidity in Barbadian schools under her watch. โThere is no plan, there has never been any plan, and there will be no plan under my leadership for any gender-inclusive bathrooms or for discussions of gender fluidity in schools,โ she emphatically stated during a press conference at Ilaro Court on Thursday evening. The topic of gender-inclusive bathrooms was raised at the beginning of this month when claims were made that such signage was being installed on bathrooms at the St Philip Primary School, prompting Education Minister Kay McConney to issue a swift denial. Insisting that there is โa desire on the part of people to use fake news to propagate actions and movementsโ,ย Mottley said it was time to put a stop to the distractions being created by those with an agenda. โIโve said so already and I say so now, formally, as Prime Minister and Chair of the Cabinet again โ and let us be very clear on this because these distractions are out of place โ we have made it clear as a Government that we will not support discrimination against Bajansโฆ. โTherefore, I simply just tell you that what was being propagated as a reality, has never been, and under my leadership will not be, but we will defend the rights of people as adults, not to be discriminated against in this country,โ the Prime Minister asserted.
