The jinx is finally over.

Brandon King smashed an unbeaten 85 to lead the West Indies to an emphatic series-clinching eight-wicket victory over India in the fifth and final T20 today.

The result marked the Windies’ first T20 international series win over India since 2017.

Brandon King and Shai Hope in the middle.

King smashed 85 from just 55 balls, inclusive of five fours and six sixes, to propel West Indies to 171 for two in 18 overs after India made 165 for nine in their 20 overs.

Nicholas Pooran made 47 and together with King added 107 for the second wicket to put the contest to bed.

Shai Hope, who finished unbeaten on 22, smashed Yashasvi Jaiswal for six over cover to end the match and spark wild celebrations in the Windies camp.

Earlier, a four-wicket haul from Romario Shepherd and a spirited bowling effort from the regional side saw them limit India.

Shepherd ended with 4-31 while Akeal Hosein and Jason Holder both grabbed two wickets apiece. randybennett@barbadostoday.bb
