The Accident and Emergency Department (AED) of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) was plunged into darkness on Friday night for close to an hour.

Communications specialist with the QEH Shane Sealy confirmed that the power went off at 7:50 p.m. and the outage lasted for 50 minutes.

While several patients who spoke to Barbados TODAY via phone from AED claimed the generator did not kick in when the lights went off, Sealy could not confirm the claim up to the time of publication on Friday night.
