Inspired by her family of successful entrepreneurs, 12-year-old Aria Howell has launched Ohmigosh by Ari, a business which offers all-inclusive children’s spa parties.

“I watched my mother Alicia Das, who is the owner of Das Tasty Catering Services, build her business from the bottom up. My older brother Amari Howell is also an entrepreneur, so after watching them I decided that I also wanted to become an entrepreneur. I did some research and that is how I came up with my business Ohmigosh by Ari,” she said.

Ohmigosh by Ari’s offerings consist of spa services, food and beverage, décor as well as the sale of body butters, body scrubs and cuticle oils.

Reflecting on the successful launch of her business at Worthing Events Centre on September 10, she said she was appreciative of the support.

“It was nice to see how many persons came out to support me. I was pleased to let persons know what they can expect from my business even though it recently started during the summer holiday period,” Howell noted.

“I have already taken my first booking.”

Howell, who also completed a nail technology workshop in August and recently signed up for the YMCA after-school leadership programme, had some words of advice for young people setting their sights on becoming entrepreneurs.

“Never give up; always go after your dreams no matter how small they are. If I can do it, so can you,” she said.

Her mother, who was beaming throughout the entire interview with her pre-teen daughter, said she was proud of her and happy to guide her on her entrepreneurial journey.

“I think that as the owner of Das Tasty Catering Services, I can help my daughter overcome some of the challenges entrepreneurs face in the world of entrepreneurship. As an entrepreneur, challenges are inevitable in the journey. However, what sets entrepreneurs apart is their ability to bounce back, adapt and thrive in the face of adversity; and that is why her dad, myself, and the entire family circle are here to help Aria withstand and recover from setbacks, failures, and unexpected circumstances whilst she maintains a positive mindset,” Das said.
