A flash flood watch is issued when heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time (generally less than six hours) could result in flash flooding within the watch area. It does not mean that flooding will occur, but it is possible. This alert message is valid from 6 p.m. Saturday and will be terminated at 6 a.m. on Sunday, or sooner if conditions warrant. Radar data and observations continue to show significant areas of precipitation to the east of the island. About one to two inches of rainfall was recorded across the island throughout the day, with a further one to two inches possible overnight, which can lead to flooding as soils are already saturated.
