The three Meta-owned platforms stopped working for many users starting around 10AM ET. Some users experienced issues logging in to their Meta Quest headsets, too. Facebook logged users out of their accounts, while Instagram users couldnโt refresh their feeds, and Threads displayed a message saying, โSorry, something went wrong. Try again.โ Reports on Downdetector rapidly spiked forย allย threeย platforms, while network tracker NetBlocks noted the issueโs global impact. WhatsApp appeared to be unaffected and kept working. Metaย acknowledged the issue on its status pageย with a message timestamped 10:17AM ET, reading, โWe are aware of an issue impacting Facebook Login. Our engineering teams are actively looking to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.โ As of 12:07PM ET, the status page said Meta is โrecovering from an earlier outage impacting Facebook Login, and services are in the process of being restored.โ Reached for comment, Facebook pointedย The Vergeย to a statement Meta communications headย Andy Stoneย posted to X, Threadsโ main competitor, sayingย the company was โaware people are having trouble accessing our services.โ Stone has since postedย an update on Xย to โapologize for any inconvenienceโ caused by the โtechnical issueโ that prevented people from logging in to Metaโs services. Tuesdayโs outage brings to mind a similar Meta outage thatย took place in 2021ย when a configuration issueย brought down access to Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp for several hours.
