This Flash Flood Watch was issued at 12:30PM today and will be terminated at 6:00PM or sooner if conditions warrant. A flash-flood watch is issued when heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time (generally less than 6 hours) could result in flash flooding within the watch area. It does not mean that flooding will occur, but it is possible. Maximum Rainfall Accumulations of 20.0 to 50.0 mm in light to heavy showers are expected across some central, eastern and northeastern districts of Barbados, due to localized activity. Excessive rainfall today, Wednesday 27th March, 2024 could generate flooding across low-lying areas in the watch area. Therefore, the Barbados Meteorological Services has issued a Flash Flood Watch. These conditions are predicted to continue throughout the afternoon with an improvement by tonight. There is a medium possibility of significant flooding which may result in runoff from higher elevations. Soil erosion on exposed or scarred land surfaces.
