(FP) Share FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 838 The man whose no-confidence motion sparked the latest row in the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) is calling on the membership to call for an extraordinary general meeting to address the current state of affairs. Hartley Reid has promised that if by weekend nobody steps forward, he will write the party secretariat to have one convened. Giving an update on his no-confidence resolution, he said he has not yet received any correspondence from general secretary Steve Blackett. Reid, meantime, described Thorne as a statesman who went high when Blackett went low in his comments after the members’ meeting on Sunday. His motion stated that since Thorne’s admission to the DLP, “the institution has experienced untold rancour, turmoil, contention and confusion”. However, Thorne downplayed Blackett’s no-confidence motion against him, suggesting instead that the real enemy on which the party needs to focus is the BLP and the suffering to which citizens are being subjected.
