According to police, Rasheed Shaquille Oneal Austin of 14 Seagrape Coverly Villages, Christ Church, lost his life around 12:30 a.m. along the Adams section of the ABC Highway in the vicinity of its junction with Balls Road, Christ Church. Police say the vehicle was travelling in an easterly direction towards the airport when, “for some reason still under investigation, it left the carriageway to its offside, struck a utility pole and a tree before it overturned in the ditch.” The other occupant, a man, was removed from the vehicle by officers of the Barbados Fire Service and transported to the hospital by ambulance. “At the time of leaving the scene, that individual was said to be unconscious and critical,” The Barbados Police Service’s Communications and Public Affairs Officer, Inspector Rodney Inniss, reported. This is the island’s 5th recorded road fatality for the year.
