When he appeared in the No. 2 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Manila Renee on Tuesday, Jaleeo Javan Amar Phillips of Factory Avenue, Wildey, St Michael, was not required to enter a plea that on May 7, he had in his possession a firearm without a valid licence and 15 rounds of ammunition without a valid permit. He was also not required to plead to the September 11, 2023 offence of recklessly discharging a firearm in a public place, placing Romario Brooks in danger of death or serious bodily harm; and using a firearm while committing the indictable offence of endangering life. The accused pleaded not guilty to charges of possession, trafficking and intent to supply cannabis on April 24. He was remanded into custody until June 7 when he will return to the District ‘A’ Court on the endangering life, use of firearm and drug charges. Meanwhile, the gun and ammo matter was transferred to the District ‘C’ Magistrates’ Court and will be heard on June 11.
