New Chief Justice sworn in

Senior Counsel Leslie Haynes is Barbados’ new Chief Justice.

He was sworn into office by President Dame Sandra Mason at State House this afternoon.

The prominent attorney succeeds Sir Patterson Cheltenham to become the sixth person to hold the position.

Haynes, a former Chairman of the Electoral and Boundaries Commission, received his legal education at the University of the West Indies and the Hugh Wooding Law School. He has been practising law for more than four decades.
