(GP) Share FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 2.8K She may be regarded as the quietest one on her team but her work speaks volumes, leading Zaria Forde to become the Sandals Barbados 2023 Diamond Team Member of the Year Award winner. “People say I’m quiet but I’m actually very bubbly and accommodating and I’m always willing to help people when I can,” said the winner of the highest honour at the recently held Sandals Barbados Annual Prestige Awards. The 28-year-old sales executive started as a front desk agent in 2017 and upon recommendation from her then front office manager, transitioned to the sales department. “After a performance evaluation my manager enquired about my growth plans. I honestly had no idea what to say but she suggested that I consider joining the sales team. “The next thing I remember is an interview later that day with the director of sales and well, the rest is history,” said a smiling Zaria. She said joining the sales department has given her a new love for her job, as she enjoys planning events and meeting with clients to ensure that their expectations are met. Ironically, Zaria seemed to be the only one surprised by her accomplishment as she is regularly praised by team members, guests and clients both in person and on social media for her work and pleasant demeanour. I knew I was a nominee but I didn’t see myself winning and almost didn’t come. It was a busy month, so I was really tired but my manager pushed me to attend and I’m glad I did especially with my parents there,” she said. The Team Member of the Year Award is a prestigious recognition that celebrates an outstanding individual who has consistently demonstrated exceptional qualities and contributions within the company. A team player, outstanding performance, adaptable, an effective communicator, coach and mentor; reliable, innovative and creative; empowered, influential and emotionally intelligent – these qualities collectively define the exceptional team members chosen for this crème de la crème award. As for her future, Zaria has a specific goal in mind: “I intend to grow with the company. I believe the Sandals brand has a lot to offer. I love that we are able to cross train and there are many opportunities to progress in this company.” (PR) Barbados Today Stay informed and engaged with our digital news platform.
