Mount Gay makes ‘premiere’ in Times Square

Mount Gay, the oldest running rum distillery since 1703, has launched a new limited-edition rum: Mount Gay Eclipse Navy Strength. And this weekend in New York, it takes over Times Square, showcasing the latest limited edition until Monday.

Crafted by Master Blender, Trudiann Branker, Eclipse Navy Strength was launched in the United States this month and offers a bold and vibrant flavour while paying homage to the brand’s deep-rooted connection with the maritime world.

Branker said: “Eclipse Navy Strength is inspired by the rich naval history where rum played a crucial role aboard ships. Navy Strength is bottled at 57.1 per cent ABV. This tradition dates back to when sailors relied on rum’s flammability and potency to help ignite wet gunpowder.

“Given that Eclipse has been loved by sailors around the world since its launch in 1910, it made sense to craft this loved blend at Navy Strength. When I first tried it I was blown away by the vibrancy of the flavour of the rum. Crafting it at navy strength was a thrilling experiment that paid off unveiling a rum that’s not only rich in flavour but also in history and tradition.”

Mount Gay Eclipse Navy Strength is also available for purchase in Barbados at the Mount Gay Visitor Centre and Mount Gay Distillery.
