President of the Barbados Cricket Association, Mr. Condé Riley, has been recognised for his dedication, commitment, and leadership in the regional game. That announcement came at the weekend from Cricket West Indies (CWI), the Caribbean governing body stating that it had also paid tribute to Mr. Enoch Lewis, President of Leeward Island Cricket Board.

“CWI proudly recognised two of its longstanding board directors for their exemplary service at a prestigious reception held in Barbados,” read the release. “The ceremony celebrated [their] remarkable contributions”

Mr. Lewis has dedicated over 18 years to CWI, while Mr. Riley has committed more than 15 years to the organisation. Both men have played pivotal roles in the development and success of West Indies cricket. The awards were presented by Dr. Kishore Shallow, President of Cricket West Indies, and Mr. Azim Bassarath, Vice President of Cricket West Indies.

Mr. Riley is a retired investment and trustee banker who worked in Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean, and the United Kingdom for one of the world’s largest banks.

He was first elected to the BCA’S Board in 1996, and except for one year has served Barbados’s cricket since.

He was elected as a Director of the then West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) in 2006 and has served as a member of the Finance, Pension and Provident Fund, Cricket Development and Human Resource Development Committees, having chaired the latter.

In 2010, Mr. Riley was the Event Manager for the Barbados leg of that year’s ICC T20 World Cup. On that occasion, Barbados hosted the Final. He had responsibility for cricket operations, logistics, security and entertainment. His team was complimented for an efficient and incident free leg.

The 71-year-old Riley is into his fourth consecutive term as president of the BCA, having first been elected to that position in 2017.

Dr. Shallow praised the awardees, stating, “Mr. Lewis and Mr. Riley have shown unwavering dedication and leadership within Cricket West Indies. Their contributions have been instrumental across regional cricket from junior to senior levels, and we are honoured to recognize their service. The task of service in public life is not an easy one; it requires immense commitment, sacrifices, integrity, and a passion for making a difference. Directors Lewis and Riley have embodied these qualities throughout their tenure.”

The event was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including the Prime Minister of Barbados, Hon. Mia Mottley; Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Hon. Philip J. Pierre; Prime Minister of Antigua & Barbuda, Hon. Gaston Browne; President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, H.E Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali; and Chairman of the International Cricket Council, Mr. Greg Barclay.
