Playing at their school hard courts, HC A may have underestimated their schoolmates, as the B team matched them score for score early in the game. Behind the strong play of Luke Springer, HC B only trailed 17-19 at the half, as Springer scored 7 points in that time frame. That two-point deficit would be as close as it got for the B team, as HC A started the third quarter with a menacing full court press which blew the game wide open. Walton Yarbrough was the third quarter star for HCA as he scored 10 of his 16 points during a 24-0 run, which pushed the lead all the way up to 48-19 by the end of the third quarter. HCAs’ shooting guard, Darren Massiah, had the fourth quarter all to himself, as he put on a shooting display for the home crowd, which included two of his four three-point shots in the game. He finished with a game high 20 points. Over at the Husbands courts, Queens College A made light work of Christ Church Foundation School, defeating them comfortably 60-26. QCA was led by stellar guard play from their key players Zane Gaskin and Darreon Griffith, the dynamic duo scored 23 of the teams first 25 points and gave QC a commanding 46-17 lead at halftime.
