Thousands of Crop Over masqueraders are playing mas’ along the new Kadooment route.

Revellers anxious to hit the road were delayed at the Helipad Car Park in Bridgetown after  the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) announced today’s grand climax would officially start at  11 a.m start.

Some expressed disappointment but eventually got in the action.

Varia Williams, a member of the band, All that Glitters is not Gold, who was on scene at 9 a.m. said, “Why has the NCF pulled it back today? I don’t know we ain’t start yet, but I am vex that they still have not told the people why not, what happened.?”

In a statement issued earlier today, the NCF’s Chief Executive Officer Carol Roberts explained that the 11a.m. start was the consensus emerging  from early consultations with the Barbados Association of Masqueraders, the Ministry of Culture in the Prime Minister’s office, the Commissioner of Police, and Director of the Barbados Meteorological Services Sabu Best and his team.

Some 18 bands are on the road for the parade which will culminate on the Mighty Grynner Highway . They will end at Kensington Oval.

Hundreds of spectators have lined the streets to enjoy the treat of spectacular colour and creativity.
