It was an honour to represent my country and compete against the best athletes in the world,” Odell said. She shared a captivating story about her experience at the Olympic Games. “I had the incredible privilege of representing Barbados at the Olympics,” Odell began. “It was a dream come true.” She recalled a particularly memorable moment during a practice meet, held in pouring rain. Despite the challenging conditions, Odell’s determination and excitement propelled her forward. “I remember hitting that board, feeling the adrenaline rush, and visualising myself standing on the podium a week later,” she said. “It was an exhilarating experience.” Then she felt it, her hamstring had torn in three places and before she was able to compete at the pinnacle of her sport, the dream was over. A couple days of tears followed as she had to sit out the rest of the Olympics though she did stay in the athlete village.
