Former West Indies white-ball captain and World T20 winner Carlos Brathwaite will be winging his way to Zimbabwe later this month, to link up with David Warner on the Bulawayo Braves Jaguars. The experienced international pair were among the direct signings for the second season of the six-team Zim Afro T10 league.

The tournament will run from September 21 to 29 in Harare. Warner, the 37-year-old Australian, and Brathwaite, the hard-hitting 36-year-old allrounder from Barbados, will work with coach Owais  who has coached the United Arab Emirates national team and Dambulla Viiking in the Lanka Premier League.

The Bulawayo team will compete against Cape Town Samp Army, Durban Wolves, New York Strikers Lagos, Harare Bolts, and Jo’Burg Bangla Tigers. Durban Qalandars won the inaugural edition of the Zim Afro T10 after they defeated Joburg Buffaloes by eight wickets in the 2023 finale.

Zim Afro T10 will be followed by Season 2 of the US Masters League, Abu Dhabi T10, and the inaugural Lanka T10, which will conclude the season in December. Sri Lanka will be the second ICC Full Member nation, after Zimbabwe, to embrace the T10 format. The Lanka T10 will immediately establish itself as a key event on the Sri Lankan cricket calendar, showcasing the fastest and most thrilling format of the game.

Nawab Shaji Ul Mulk, T Ten Global Sports Founder and Chairman, said: “We’re gearing up for an exciting season, and this one is extra special for many reasons. Following last year’s amazing success in Zimbabwe, the excitement is off the charts, and we’re thrilled to start in Harare. The anticipation and enthusiasm are palpable, and we’re eager to see how the format continues to captivate cricket fans worldwide.”

Bulawayo Braves Jaguars: David Warner, Carlos Brathwaite, Nick Hobson, Kobe Herft, Laurie Evans, Sabir Ali, Akila Dhananjaya, Anamul Haque Bijoy, Richard Ngarava, Brad Evans, Wellington Masakadza, Wessly Madhevere, Panashe Taruvinga, Victor Chirwa, Kirk McKenzie, Vishas Thewmika
